Somerset’s starting XI?

Well, slowly winter is receding and the cricket season is edging ever closer for all of those who have spent the winter either glued to Sky TV watching the action from Sri Lanka and New Zealand, or thumbing through old Wisdens looking for the stats on Alfonso Thomas. April will soon be here and then it’s the warmups, university games and into the Hampshire match. Somerset’s balance will differ in ODIs to four day cricket but who’s likely to start in the County Championship? I haven’t been scouting the squad since training commenced but here’s my 2p worth….

Trescothick, Edwards, Langer, Hildreth, Blackwell, Trego, Kieswetter, Munday, Turner, Caddick, Willougby

A side with pace, spin, deep batting and plenty of experience. The good news is that the squad has ample cover with the likes of Francis, Banks, Thomas, Jones, Philips and Durston all pushing hard for places.

So…who will it be?! What do I know…but roll on the new season…
